Applications for cogeneration

The term cogeneration is used to define those processes which simultaneously produce electrical energy and calorific and/or frigorific energy through the use of a gas or diesel fuel.

The simultaneous generation of electricity and heat by the cogeneration plants allows to take full advantage of the fuel's energy.

The potential for primary energy savings which the gas or diesel engine cogeneration plants offer is very high when compared with the separate generation of electricity and heat, and for the user this can be translated into a significant reduction in energy costs.

The cogeneration systems that have been developed by GUASCOR S.A. are an efficient alternative to traditional systems that use the national electric grid and generating heat in boilers.

Advantages of Cogeneration
  • Reduction in energy costs for the user.

  • Independence from the national grid and an assured supply.

  • Greater environmental protection . The cogeneration plants with GUASCOR engines comply with the strictest environmental regulations.

  • Greater efficiency in generating energy, reduced transportation and distribution costs.

  • Better balance between supply and demand of energy.

Applications for cogeneration
The applications for the cogeneration engines and systems based on GUASCOR Gas and Diesel engines are very varied; among other it is worth mentioning:
  • Cogeneration producing hot air and steam.

  • Cogeneration for air conditioning and producing chilled water.

  • Cogeneration producing hot water.

  • Cogeneration in sewage treatment.

  • Cogeneration on landfill sites.
Sectors in which cogeneration is used:
  • Chemical processes which require heat and cold.

  • Agro-food industry.

  • Ceramic and dehydration industry.

  • Hospitals, hotels, sports centres, swimming pools and shopping centres.

  • Treatment of waste waters at purifying stations.

  • Energy recovery from landfill sites.
